Work Box Weekend part 3

Here we go. . . more of my work boxes:

Edmark Spelling - This is a notebook that has multiple Edmark cards with letters that are laminated and affixed to the notebook.  Students have to spell each word using the velcro letters.

Color Shape Match - I can't remember if I created this or if it comes directly from "Print it, Teach it". Either way, it's based on their concepts.  There are cards with a colored shape.  Students have to match the color and the shape to the card. Building Blox - Print it Teach it

Animal Picture Match - A photo album has one flash card inserted in the left side and students match the second flash card by placing it in a library envelope on the right side.

Shape Sort and Package - Students first sort pencil sharpeners according to shape/color.  They then match one of each sharpener to a picture of the same and place in a bag.

Color Picture Match - Each card has a picture of an object (flower, cat, horse, dog, duck, ball, etc) that is in a color (red, blue, green, black, yellow, purple).  The student has to match an icon to the picture and then match it's color.

Shape Sort 2 - Students sort erasers according to color/picture.  These are cars erasers and have very similar colors, so the kiddos must pay close attention to the picture.

Block Package - Students must match colored blocks to a template and then place it all in the bag.

Amphibian Pack - Students sort small toys as lizards and frogs.  In the future, when I get the directions finished, they will then package a certain number of frogs and a certain number of lizards into bags.

Letter and Color Match - Another that may have come from Buildingblox "Print it, Teach it".  print it teach it.  Students match the letter and the color.

I have enough boxes for at least one more post. . . man that's a lot of tasks!!!  :)

  1. These are fantastic! This is my first year teaching a self contained class and I have two classes in one. I have three minimally verbal kindergarteners with significant autism, and three second grade students who are moderately verbal. The kindergarteners have a very difficult time with compliance, and although are very bright, will do no academic work. These will be great for them, thank you so much for posting! Sometimes I just don't know what to do with them because they are capable of reading, and they know all of their colors and their numbers as well as can count and know their letters and sounds, but I cannot get them to sit long enough to do anything beyond that. And I am not sure if they would understand anything beyond that, but, that means I keep giving them the same things to do and I know they get board and frustrated. Thank you for the ideas!
Where did you find the cards with the color and object? This would be so perfect for my kiddos! Also, did you use boardmaker to make the color grids to match the blocks with?

    1. SOO sorry I haven't responded earlier - life got in the way! Most every task on this page I made. . . including the cards with color and object. You can get them from my teacher pay teacher store, of if you send me your e-mail address, I can send them to you for FREE! I love sharing the things I've made and totally understand the excitement of coming across new things you can use!
Let me know if you want these sent your way.

  6. Hi,
I just checked out your entire blog, and you have fabulous ideas, thanks so much for sharing. We actually have a similar background, except I will be starting a new middle school autism program in the fall, from scratch, so I have been scrounging around on all of these blogs, trying to soak up wisdom, knowledge, know-how, and ideas. I have also started a blog (although I have gotten a little derailed this past couple of weeks because, 1. I have been through the move from hell, and 2. I am not computer savvy at all, and thus have no idea what I am doing, nor how to do it). Anyway, it's been fun trying
I would love it if you shared some of these resources with me, but am also willing to buy them if you put them up in your store. My email is jannikejohnsen@gmail.com and my blog is www.anautismconnection.blogspot.com. Thank you!!

  7. Hi Erin, I just came across your blog and task/work box ideas from Pinterest. I'm starting my first year teaching in an AU classroom, where the SpEd department has emphasized this kind of system. I've been trying to find and buy all kinds of things, but I've had some medical issues the last month or so (gee, stress, maybe?) and costs are adding up. I wanted to know if you have any of these resources on your blog somewhere that I could purchase or if you'd be willing to share them with me, I'd really appreciate it!! I want my students to be working on more academic tasks than vocational ones, and these fit the bill! Thank you so much!!

I have 4 AU kids and hardly any resources. Never been trained in pecs all that I know is when I do my mown research. Love when teachers like you post and share info! If you don't mind sharing your resources. Felkatz@gmail.com

  10. I have noticed that this post is a few years old, but I love the activities and think many of my students next year would benefit from them. I see in some of the other comments you said you were able to e-mail them to others. Is this still possible? If so, could you send them to my e-mail? - apeck324@yahoo.com Thanks so much.
